Skill-Based Gaming Compliance Statement
Skill-Based Gaming Compliance Statement
Effective Date: August 6, 2026
Operator: Skillsports LLC, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
This Skill-Based Gaming Compliance Statement (the “Statement”) is issued by Skillsports LLC (“Skillsports,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) to describe the legal character of the contests offered on the Skillsports platform (including the beta environment at beta.skillsports.us and the production environment at skillsports.us) and the compliance measures maintained by the Operator.
1. Nature of the Service
Skillsports operates a platform for multiplayer, head-to-head and tournament contests in which registered users compete against other real human players for cash prizes. All contests offered for real money are structured such that the outcome is determined by the predominant skill of the participants. Chance does not constitute the predominant factor in determining winners.
The Operator does not employ bots, artificial-intelligence opponents, or simulated players in any paid contest. Every paid match or tournament entry is matched exclusively against other verified human participants.
The Operator charges a fixed percentage fee deducted from each participant’s entry fee. This fee is outcome-independent. The remaining portion of the entry fees forms the prize pool distributed to the winners according to the published rules of the applicable contest.
2. Legal Characterization
Skillsports contests are games of skill. Under the predominant-factor test applied in the majority of United States jurisdictions, a contest in which skill is the dominant determinant of the outcome does not constitute gambling, a lottery, or an unlawful game of chance.
The platform is offered only in jurisdictions in which skill-based real-money contests of this character are permitted under applicable law. Access from jurisdictions that prohibit or restrict such contests is technologically restricted through geolocation and IP-blocking measures.
3. Eligibility and Access Controls
- Minimum Age. Participation in real-money contests is restricted to individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age. Proof of age is required as part of the identity-verification process.
- Identity Verification (KYC). Prior to depositing funds or entering any paid contest, every user must complete identity verification. Skillsports reserves the right to request additional documentation at any time and to suspend or terminate accounts that fail to satisfy verification requirements.
- Geographic Restrictions. Users located in any state, territory, or country in which skill-based real-money gaming is prohibited or restricted are blocked from accessing paid features. The list of restricted jurisdictions is maintained and updated by Skillsports in accordance with applicable law and is enforced by automated geolocation controls.
4. Compliance Measures
Skillsports maintains the following ongoing compliance practices:
- Continuous monitoring of applicable United States state and federal law and relevant foreign law concerning skill-based contests;
- Technological geoblocking of restricted jurisdictions;
- Mandatory identity and age verification prior to real-money play;
- Prohibition on the use of bots or non-human opponents in paid contests;
- Transparent publication of contest rules, entry fees, prize distribution, and the Operator’s fixed fee percentage;
- Maintenance of Terms of Service and Privacy Policy governing all use of the platform.
5. Governing Documents
This Statement is supplemented by, and must be read together with, the following documents, which are incorporated by reference:
In the event of any conflict between this Statement and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall control.
6. User Responsibility
Each user is solely responsible for determining whether participation in Skillsports contests is lawful in the jurisdiction in which the user is located. By accessing or using the platform, the user represents and warrants that such participation is permitted under the laws applicable to the user. Skillsports accepts no responsibility for any violation of local law by a user who circumvents geoblocking measures or otherwise participates unlawfully.
